The 1st Annual Filipino Film Festival
The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu is pleased to be associated with the Honolulu Academy of Arts’ 1st Annual Filipino Film Festival to be held from 10 to 17 April 2009 at the Doris Duke Theatre.
The Honolulu Academy of Arts, one of the world’s great museums, celebrates independent Filipino cinema with six new award-winning films by a cooperative of independent film makers. The films included in this festival have received rave reviews from Filipino critics and audiences. Two of the films, Boses (Voice) and Brutus were in Louis Vuitton’s Hawai’i International Film Festival 2008 and are back by popular demand. Lectures and after-film discussions by directors and actors from these films will also be held to further provide opportunities to learn and reflect on this most powerful art form.
For more information on the 1st Annual Filipino Film Festival, please call the Honolulu Academy of Arts at 808-5328700 or log on to www.honoluluacademy.org.
