Philippine Consulate General welcomes passage of Resolution 10-8 relating to the Military Families Act


13 January 2010. The Philippine Consulate General welcomes the passage today by the Executive Matters and Legal Affairs Committee of the City Council of Honolulu, Resolution 10-8 relating to the Military Families Act.  

Introduced to the Council by long time veterans’ rights advocate, Councilman Romy Cachola,  the Resolution urges the United States Congress to support S. 2757, the Military Families Act, that authorizes the adjustment of the U.S. residency status of family members of  soldiers who served the armed forces of the U.S. during World War II and the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts, including septuagenarian Filipino veterans who fought for the U.S. in World War II. 

Resolution 10-8 will be transmitted to the Majority Leader of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives and members of the Hawaii delegation to the Congress of the United States. END
