Philippine Ambassador to Ireland, H.E. Ariel Y. Abadilla, bids Hawaii Aloha and Till we meet again

Abadilla who left Honolulu on 22 June to assume his post as Ambassador of the Philippines to Ireland, after completing three and a half years as Consul General in Hawaii. Men gave the Hawaiian hand sign “shaka” meaning “all right,” “cool,” and “till we meet again” while the ladies did the hula hand sign meaning “welcome,” “farewell.”

The officers and staff of the Philippine Consulate General bid farewell and Aloha to outgoing Philippine Consul General Ariel Y. Abadilla who proceeded to his new post as the new and first Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland. Consul General Abadilla ended his year tour of duty in Honolulu, Hawaii yesterday, 22 June 2009, 3 1/2 years after arriving in December 2005. A farewell and appreciation party was held at the Consulate Lanai in his honor where all consulate personnel danced to the hula, a native Hawaiian dance routine, to the delight and approval of the Consul General.

Consul General Abadilla is a veteran of the Philippine foreign Service, having entered diplomacy in the 1970's. He had been posted to New York, Seattle, Houston, Beijing, Washington DC, and as Consul General in Sydney and most recently in Honolulu.




Officers and staff of the Consulate performed for Consul General Abadilla a traditional Hawaiian Dance "Hula O Makee."
