20 January 2010.  The Philippine Consulate General honors Secretary to the Consul General Ms. Teresita K. Canilao with the  first ever “People’s Choice Award” during the Consulate’s Annual Christmas Party held on 18 December 2009.

In a secret ballot, officers and staff of the Philippine Consulate General unanimously voted Ms. Canilao as their personal choice for the “People’s Choice Award.” Proposed by Consul General Leoncio Cardenas, the “People’s Choice Award,” introduces a new tradition of recognizing the intangible dynamic of being a positive presence in the workplace redounding to a congenial and efficient Philippine Consulate in the service of the Filipino Community.

Ms. Canilao, “Tessie” to everyone, has been the Consulate’s well-known personnel for the past thirty years,  the “institutional memory” and the highly-dependable Secretary to some eight Consuls General and a long-list of Consuls and personnel who value Tessie as a friend and a colleague. END
