Major General Tabamo Delivers "Araw ng Kagitingan" Address

9 April 2010.  “I am a son of veteran, a survivor of the concentration camp at Capas, Tarlac and the historic death march. And I am married to a daughter of veteran, Consul Lourdes Tabamo, whose father was a member of the Philippine Army Medical Corps”  MGen Tabamo began his main address at the 68th Araw ng Kagitingan Rites held on 9 April 2010, at Punchbowl, Honolulu. 

A retired  Philippine Army officer of 32 years, Major General Tabamo spoke of a wealth of personal experience as a soldier, a member of four Philippine peace panels to the Netherlands, as an educator and a communications expert.   

He joined Governor Linda Lingle, Mayor Mufi Hannemann, Major Gen. Peter Pawling, Chief of Staff , US PACOM, Vice Admiral Ferdinand Golez, Flag Officer-in-Command, Philippine Navy, Major General Juancho Sabaan, Commandant, Philippine Marines, the Consular Corps and Filipino Community leaders at the Wreath Laying Ceremony made heartrending by the ageing and frail Filipino-American veterans standing in unyielding attention amidst heavy rains.    

MGen. Tabamo extolled the bravery of Filipino-American veterans groups as he reiterated his respect and gratitude to  all veterans who fought in the name of freedom and democracy.
