Consul Lolita B. Capco takes oath as Foreign Service Officer, Class I


Consul Lolita B. Capco of the Philippine Consulate General in
Honolulu took her oath on 07 August 2009 assuming the rank of Foreign Service Officer Class I. Consul Capco has a long career at the Philippine Foreign Service and has had assignments at the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong and at the Philippine Embassy in Wellington, New Zealand, where she served as Charge d’ Affaires from 2003 – 2005. At the Home Office, she served in various positions including as Assistant Director at the Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs (Northeast Asia); Office of the Undersecretary for Policy and Office of Personnel and Administrative Services. She was Director for Political and Security Cooperation, Office of ASEAN Affairs, prior to her posting to Honolulu.
  
The entry-level rank of all Foreign Service Officers (FSO) is Class IV, rising all the way to Class I. After which, all FSOs take the rigorous Career Ministers Examinations for eventual promotion into Career Minister on to the Chief of Mission rank, where an officer earns the rank of Ambassador or Consul General.
 
Consul Capco arrived in Honolulu in February 2008. She has three (3) children, JC, Jeraldine and Jared.
