BIBAK Hawaii to present unique culture of the Cordilleras at the 16th Honolulu Festival

8 March 2010. The BIBAK Hawaii will display in full authentic costume, musical instruments and dances the unique culture of the Cordilleras at the 16th Honolulu Festival Grand Parade on 14 March 2010 at Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki

The BIBAK Marching Unit, composed of fifty-seven marchers, dancers/ warriors, and gong-players from the provinces of Benguet, Ifugao, Bontoc (MountainProvince), Abra, Apayao and Kalinga will  perform traditional Igorot dances in the much-awaited Honolulu Festival Grand Parade.

BIBAK Hawaii was founded in 1979 by US navy families and other immigrant families from the Cordillera region of Northern Philippines to promote fellowship and unity among BIBAK members and  promote and preserve the cultural heritage of the Igorots. 

The 16th Honolulu Festival, to be held from 12-14 March 2010 at the HawaiiConvention Center, is a major event that helps showcase Philippine culture, arts and craft and tourism in Honolulu.  It is sponsored by the Honolulu Festival Foundation and co-sponsored by the State of Hawaii, the City and Country of Honolulu, to foster cultural relations between the people of the United States and the Asia-Pacific region.
